FAQs
Common Questions about InboxAlarm Services
What is InboxAlarm?
InboxAlarm is a burglar alarm for your inbox. When an intruder opens a boobytrapped email, it alerts our servers and we alert you.
Why do I need InboxAlarm?
Since email forms the foundation of your online identity, you need to protect it as best you can. If someone breaks in to your inbox, they can reset passwords to your bank, phone, social networks, and worse.
How does InboxAlarm keep me safe?
In much the same way that a home may have a burglar alarm, so should your inbox. With InboxAlarm, an intruder has no time to steal much of anything. You can shut down accounts before they can do more damage.
Why would an intruder open an email from InboxAlarm?
Once an intruder is in your inbox, he or she will invariably look for emails that contain sensitive information. Because InboxAlarm injects certain keywords into email templates, an intruder will stumble across an irresistible honeypot that he or she will open.
Why do you need my cell phone?
Your cell phone is a superior key to your online identity. After all, you have it with you wherever you go! Should we detect a break-in, it makes sense to bypass a compromised inbox and send you a text message instead. Keep in mind that standard delivery fees apply according to your plan.
Do I need to install any software?
No. All you need is a cell phone and an email address. That's it!
Does InboxAlarm track my email habits?
No, InboxAlarm can only detect if someone opens an email that was sent from us.
Does InboxAlarm know my email passwords?
No! InboxAlarm will never ask you for your passwords. In fact, we advise on safe identity management. It's just one benefit of InboxAlarm Email Protection.
What does InboxAlarm track, exactly?
We track if an email was opened and what IP address accessed the email.
Does the email say it was sent by InboxAlarm?
Not at all. You can set yourself or someone else as the sender and there is not a single reference to InboxAlarm in the email.
How does InboxAlarm know if a hacker opened a tripwire and not me?
This feature is only available to corporate clients, namely because IP addresses for individuals are usually dynamic. Moreover, studies have shown that snoopers are very often likely to use the same computer, so it's important to register any alarm regardless of location.
